Dhol Sangeetakaar

Another popular percussion instrument around the Indian subcontinent. Dhol is essentially a double-headed drum. It is said that it used to exist during the Indus valley civilisation. It is also depicted in earliest ancient Indian sculptural arts as one of the chief percussion instruments. The artistry in this sculpture depicts an ancient commoner playing dhol.
