One of the central characters of the Hindu epic Ramayana, Hanuman is a Hindu mythology figure that is seen accompanying Ram oftentimes. Being a Vanara (monkey) and having mentions in Puranas (earliest Hindu texts), Hanuman fought with Ram to eradicate evil and was always found as a trusty ally by his side. Hanuman found Ram during his 14 year exile and it is told that in his heart one could see the physical manifestation of Ram.
